Professional wrestling has always understood the power of a great partnership.

Sometimes it is two friends who become brothers. Sometimes it is two bitter rivals who discover they are better together. And sometimes, it is a real-life relationship that becomes something much bigger on television.

WWE may already have the ingredients for all three.

Carmelo Hayes.

Trick Williams.

Lash Legend.

Kelani Jordan.

Four young talents who have individually demonstrated that they can carry significant responsibility. Four performers with different strengths, different personalities and different trajectories. And, perhaps most importantly, four people who could create multiple compelling relationships before ever becoming a faction.

The more you look at it, the more the possibilities begin to write themselves.

There could be Trick Williams and Lash Legend, WWE’s next great power couple.

There could be Carmelo Hayes and Kelani Jordan, “HIM & HER.”

There could be Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams, former partners whose careers have taken completely different paths.

There could be Lash Legend and Kelani Jordan, a potentially dominant women’s tag team.

And eventually, all four could become something bigger.

Or perhaps they never do.

That may actually be the beauty of the idea.

Lash Legend: The Superstar Who Refused to Sink

Of the four, Lash Legend arguably had one of the more difficult roads to establishing herself.

Lash’s rise wasn’t simply a case of WWE handing her a major opportunity and allowing her to run with it. She repeatedly had to prove that she could belong in different environments and alongside different talent.

Her partnership with Jakara Jackson was beginning to become something special.

The two were starting to develop legitimate chemistry as a tag team, and they had opportunities to show that they could hang with some of WWE’s established women’s teams. Their matches against Damage CTRL gave them valuable exposure, while their encounters with Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill showed that Lash and Jakara could stand across the ring from some of the company’s biggest stars without looking out of place.

They were beginning to hit another gear.

Then WWE’s budget cuts changed everything.

Jakara Jackson became one of the names released, leaving Lash Legend to figure things out without her longtime partner.

It could have been a setback.

Instead, it became a test.

And Lash passed it.

She arguably delivered one of the strongest performances of any superstar during the Royal Rumble, found herself involved in WarGames and eventually captured tag team gold after forming an unlikely partnership with Nia Jax.

Lash’s story is important because it demonstrates something WWE should value tremendously.

She can adapt.

She can work with different personalities. She can compete as a singles wrestler. She can function in a tag team. She can be a powerhouse without becoming one-dimensional.

She was placed in a sink-or-swim situation.

Lash Legend did not sink.

She kept swimming.

Trick Williams & Lash Legend: WWE’s Next Power Couple?

And this is where the conversation becomes even more interesting.

Trick Williams and Lash Legend are married in real life.

That detail changes the possibilities dramatically.

WWE doesn’t necessarily need to manufacture another wrestling romance for Trick and Lash to work as a couple on television. The relationship already exists.

The opportunity is to turn that real-life relationship into a compelling WWE power couple while allowing both performers to maintain their individual identities.

And that distinction is crucial.

Trick should not become “Lash’s husband.”

Lash should not become “Trick’s wife.”

They should be presented as two rising WWE stars who happen to be married.

Trick brings the charisma, swagger, crowd connection and larger-than-life presence.

Lash brings the athleticism, physical presence, confidence and intimidation.

Together, they could have the kind of presentation that WWE power couples have historically thrived on.

But unlike some wrestling couples, there wouldn’t need to be an obvious star and supporting player.

They’re both stars.

Imagine Trick holding championship gold while Lash is simultaneously chasing a women’s championship.

Imagine them walking into the arena together but competing in completely separate matches.

Imagine Lash being the first person waiting backstage after Trick wins a major match.

Imagine Trick being in the front row when Lash wins a championship.

Imagine someone attacking Lash and discovering that Trick takes it personally.

Imagine someone disrespecting Trick and finding out Lash isn’t interested in standing by quietly.

You don’t have to force them into every storyline.

Their relationship itself becomes part of their presentation.

And WWE could have something extremely marketable:

But here’s the fascinating part.

They don’t necessarily need Carmelo Hayes and Kelani Jordan.

Trick and Lash could run with the power-couple concept entirely on their own.

Kelani Jordan: “Her”

Then there is Kelani Jordan. Perhaps soon to be NXT Champion?

Kelani has seemingly produced standout performances against almost every woman she has shared a ring with. Her athletic ability is obvious, and becoming the inaugural NXT Women’s North American Champion gave her an important piece of history.

But her development has gone beyond athleticism.

One of her most revealing moments came outside of the ring.

After winning the TNA Knockouts Championship, Kelani delivered a candid and much more aggressive promo that showed another side of her personality.

Instead of apologizing for her methods, she defended them.

She addressed hypocrisy.

She embraced selfishness.

She openly acknowledged her athletic superiority and essentially told the locker room that nobody could keep up with her.

That moment mattered because it demonstrated that Kelani could be more than the spectacular babyface.

She could be arrogant.

She could be cocky.

She could talk trash.

And, most importantly, she could back it up.

That is the difference between an incredible athlete and a potential star.

Kelani already had the athletic ability.

The promo showed that she may have the character range to match it.

And then there is the obvious branding connection.

Carmelo Hayes: WWE Needs to Remember What It Has

Carmelo Hayes has perhaps experienced the most frustrating version of success.

His talent has never been the question.

His consistency of opportunity has been.

Carmelo arrived on the main roster with enormous expectations and immediately began producing the type of matches that reminded fans why he was considered one of NXT’s brightest stars.

His rivalry with Andrade was particularly important.

Match after match, the two continued to deliver.

It was a reminder that sometimes wrestling does not need to be complicated.

Put two exceptional performers in a ring.

Let them wrestle.

Let the audience decide.

Carmelo eventually captured the United States Championship in 2025 after defeating Ilja Dragunov, giving him a championship run that felt long overdue.

And what made that run so refreshing was the opportunity to see Carmelo do what he does best.

Wrestle.

Throughout his main roster run, Carmelo has shared the ring with some of WWE’s biggest names, including Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, Jacob Fatu, Shinsuke Nakamura, LA Knight, Leon Slater, The Miz, Sami Zayn and Gunther.

The result has consistently been the same.

Fans walk away wanting to see more Carmelo Hayes.

That should matter.

WWE is understandably more data-driven than ever. Numbers, ratings, merchandise, social media engagement and audience reactions all matter.

But there is something WWE has historically understood better than almost anyone:

Sometimes you have to allow a wrestler to become a character over time.He can make the audience want to see him win or lose.

That’s why the lack of consistent high-level utilization on the main roster has been so frustrating for his fans.

WWE has an incredibly talented performer.

It simply needs to allow him to be more of himself.

And then there is his most important relationship for this story.

Trick Williams.

Melo & Trick: When the Tables Turn

Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams already have history.

Real history.

Their NXT partnership helped establish both men.

But the dynamic has changed.

When they were together in NXT, Carmelo was the hotshot.

Carmelo was the priority.

Carmelo was the guy with the championship aspirations and the spotlight.

Trick was the guy standing next to him.

Now?

The tables have turned.

Trick Williams arrived on the main roster with a rocket attached to his back and never once looked like he didn’t belong.

His promo ability improved dramatically.

His in-ring work became increasingly entertaining.

His music became instantly recognizable.

His catchphrases became part of WWE’s vocabulary.

Most importantly, Trick learned how to control an audience.

He can get an arena behind him.

He can make an arena boo him.

He can make people chant his name.

His success eventually translated into championship gold, including the United States Championship at WrestleMania, and even after losing the title, he remained one of the names fans could realistically envision becoming a major WWE centerpiece.

Which creates an incredible potential story if Carmelo and Trick reunite.

Carmelo was once the guy Trick stood beside.

Now Trick may be the bigger star.

Imagine what that does to Carmelo’s ego.

Imagine Trick knowing it.

Neither man has to say it immediately.

The audience will know.

That tension could lead to a feud.

They could have brutal singles matches.

They could try to destroy each other.

And then, eventually, circumstances force them to work together.

Maybe they discover that despite everything that has changed, they’re still better together.

That is where the relationship becomes incredibly interesting.

They could develop a dynamic similar to Shawn Michaels and Triple H after DX: two men who can have absolutely brutal matches against one another but can also become an almost unstoppable team when they’re on the same side.

Imagine Trick and Carmelo entering the tag team division together.

Suddenly the tag team championships have two legitimate singles stars fighting over them.

Suddenly the division matters to people who might not normally care about it.

And suddenly there is another layer to the story.

Because everybody knows these two men want to be the biggest star.

They just happen to be willing to dominate the tag division together while they figure out who is actually HIM.

The tag team division suddenly becomes another opportunity.

Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams could enter the division not because either man needs tag-team wrestling, but because two established singles stars deciding to dominate the tag division would immediately make those championships more important.

And then you can introduce another relationship.

Lash Legend & Kelani Jordan: Power Meets Athleticism

Lash and Kelani could make a fascinating women’s tag team.

Kelani is speed.

Lash is power.

Kelani is finesse.

Lash is intimidation.

Kelani believes she is “Her.”

Lash doesn’t necessarily need to argue.

She can simply prove it.

The two could start as an unlikely pairing and gradually become one of WWE’s most dangerous women’s teams.

And just like Trick and Carmelo, they don’t have to agree on everything.

That tension is useful.

Kelani might believe she is the future.

Lash might believe she has already earned her place.

They could respect each other without necessarily being best friends.

And that makes their eventual partnership feel much more authentic.

HIM & HER

Then comes the easiest connection of all.

Carmelo Hayes has spent years telling the world that he is HIM.

Kelani Jordan has embraced “Her.”

The branding is sitting right there.

HIM & HER.

Carmelo and Kelani could become WWE’s next major power couple.

And the key is that neither person needs the other to become a star.

Carmelo doesn’t need Kelani.

Kelani doesn’t need Carmelo.

That’s exactly why it works.

They are two talented, confident athletes who happen to be together.

Imagine the red carpets.

The coordinated entrances.

The matching “HIM” and “HER” merchandise.

The social media content.

The interviews.

The occasional disagreements.

The competitive nature of two people who both genuinely believe they are the best athlete in the room.

You could even turn their relationship into a storyline without turning it into a soap opera.

Carmelo doesn’t want to be second to Kelani.

Kelani doesn’t want to be second to Carmelo.

They love each other.

They respect each other.

But neither one is willing to admit that the other is the bigger star.

That is wrestling television.

Two Power Couples, One WWE

And now the concept becomes much bigger.

WWE could have two legitimate power couples.

Trick Williams & Lash Legend.

Another married couple.

Another established relationship.

The charismatic powerhouse duo.

And:

Carmelo Hayes & Kelani Jordan.

HIM & HER.

The flashy, athletic, confident young married couple.

They could exist completely independently.

They don’t need to become a faction.

In fact, WWE could let the audience decide which couple they prefer.

Who is the real power couple?

Trick and Lash?

Or Melo and Kelani?

That alone could generate months of television.

But then there is the history between Trick and Carmelo.

And the potential partnership between Lash and Kelani.

Eventually, those worlds can collide.

The Four of Them Don’t Need to Become a Faction Immediately

This is where WWE could really get creative.

Don’t debut four people together and announce that they’re a faction. Honestly, that’s probably the worst case scenario

Let the relationships develop.

Let Trick and Lash establish themselves as a power couple.

Let Carmelo and Kelani establish themselves as HIM & HER.

Let Trick and Carmelo rekindle their partnership.

Let Lash and Kelani become a formidable women’s tag team.

Then allow the audience to gradually realize that all four relationships are connected.

Maybe Carmelo and Trick start teaming again.

Maybe Lash and Kelani start winning championships.

Maybe Trick and Carmelo get into another argument over who is the bigger star.

Kelani sides with Carmelo.

Lash sides with Trick.

Maybe one argument becomes a mixed tag match.

And then something happens.

They win.

All four acknowledge the other couple

The audience reacts.

And suddenly WWE has a faction without ever having to manufacture one.

HIM. HER. THEM.

At that point, you have something much more interesting than a standard four-person stable.

You have a collection of relationships.

Carmelo and Trick have history.

Trick and Lash have a marriage.

Carmelo and Kelani married with an already began to have a power-couple identity.

Lash and Kelani have the potential to become a women’s tag team.

Every combination tells a different story.

That’s what makes this work.

And the faction itself doesn’t even have to be permanent.

Eventually, somebody is going to want more.

Maybe Carmelo believes he should be the leader.

Maybe Trick refuses to be anybody’s second.

Maybe Kelani becomes the biggest star in the group.

Maybe Lash gets tired of being treated like the fourth member.

Maybe the two couples eventually turn against each other.

And when the faction finally breaks apart, WWE doesn’t lose four people.

It gains four people with years of shared history.

Now you can have:

Carmelo Hayes vs. Trick Williams.

Kelani Jordan vs. Lash Legend.

Carmelo Hayes & Kelani Jordan vs. Trick Williams & Lash Legend.

Those matches would have meaning because the audience watched the relationships develop.

WWE’s Next Generation Is Already Here

Ultimately, this idea is bigger than one faction.

It is about WWE recognizing what it already has.

Carmelo Hayes has proven he can produce at an elite level in the ring.

Trick Williams has demonstrated legitimate crowd connection and star power.

Kelani Jordan has shown extraordinary athletic ability and the beginnings of a much deeper character.

Lash Legend has repeatedly proven that she can survive and succeed when placed in difficult situations.

None of them need to be presented as projects.

They need opportunities.

And that’s why the possibilities are so exciting.

WWE could have either real-life married couple, become one of its next great power couples.

It could have Carmelo and Kelani become the modern-day “HIM & HER.”

It could reunite Carmelo and Trick and turn their changed relationship into one of WWE’s most compelling stories.

It could pair Lash and Kelani and potentially create another important women’s tag team.

Or it could eventually bring all four together.

The possibilities are almost endless.

And if WWE did eventually put them together, the faction wouldn’t be four random talented wrestlers standing next to one another.

It would be four performers with established identities, established relationships and established reasons to care about one another.

HIM.

HER.

TRICK.

LASH.

And eventually:

THEM.

From Triple H and Stephanie McMahon to Edge and Lita, Macho Man Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth, The Miz and Maryse, King Booker & Queen Sharmell, wrestling has repeatedly demonstrated how effective a compelling couple can be.

Maybe WWE doesn’t need another faction.

Maybe it needs to recognize that it already has the foundation for one.
