2024 NFL Draft is 2 months away in the Motor City of Detroit. The Draft is where dreams are made and Super Bowl teams are built. The first round is very unique, where it can ignite a franchise & will craft the rest of the team.
Most teams look for the next ‘Pat Mahomes’ or the next ‘Justin Jefferson, hopefully, a QB needy team, avoids the ‘Ryan Leaf’ trap. Sorry Ryan.
1. CHI Bears – QB Caleb Williams, USC
The Justin Fields saga needs to end at some point. Caleb Williams has the tools to be the best QB the Bears have ever had. Although, that isn’t a hard task, Caleb does come with risk, however can you be the GM to pass on him? Also, Lincoln Riley products has turned out well in the NFL
2. WSH Commanders – QB Jayden Daniels
The Heisman winner has a lot of buzz right now & I can see him going high as 2 here. With the addition of Kliff Kingsbury this offense needs someone who can run his offense. QBs that played in his system thus far, Patrick Mahomes and Kyler Murray, the mobility and accuracy makes this system go and Jayden showed that at the highest level at LSU. The writing is on the wall for Jayden at pick 2, hopefully his thin frame and lack of elite arm strength isn’t a blow.
3. NE Patriots – WR Marvin Harrison Jr., OHST
Ok, I know what you’re thinking, why would they pass up a chance to draft a QB? Well, i think this guy is special-special. Can he achieve the success his father did? Maybe not, but with the right organization and the right QB he can. He’s a top 5 lock that shouldn’t get debated within the next few weeks but I’m sure they’ll be people who would say other prospects at WR will be better. The Patriots need a sure thing AND Marvin Harrison Jr. is a sure thing.
4. ARZ Cardinals – WR Romeo Odunze, WSH
Romeo Odunze doesn’t have a weakness, the Washington standout dominated along with his Quarterback Michael Penix. He is a system proof WR who’s a dangerous deep threat and adding him to a mix of Michael Wilson, Trey Mcbride & Rondale Moore would make Kyler Murray super excited. I can see the memes now, ” F*&! it, Odunze down there somewhere”.
5. LA Chargers – T Joe Alt, ND
Drafting an offensive lineman is never a bad thing form Norte Dame, especially Joe Alt. Herbert needs help at the weapon department but lets remember who coaches the Chargers. Jim Harbaugh loves the trenches & to protect your investment’s OL is the key to health. This is a pretty big deal if you ask me, Justin Herbert spent most of his time running for his life, not saying Joe is the final solution but he addresses a problem.
6. NY Giants – WR Malik Nabers, LSU
The Giants can give Daniel Jones help here by drafting Nabers. The skills for his route separation are 2nd to none – he can transform LSU to WR University, with the likes of Justin Jefferson and Ja’Mar Chase. With his size at 6-foot, 195 lbs he can be dyanmic right off the gate.
7. TEN Titans – OT Olumuyiwa Fashanu, PSU
The Titans saw Joe Alt, my #1 OL in the draft 2 spots earlier so they take my #2 here. If Will Levis is the guy, well protecting him should be a priority. Levis had a devastating injury that could’ve been worse the likes of Fashanu should help. With his size and length he can make it tough for defenders to get by him. Think Penei Sewell from the Lions.
8. ATL Falcons – QB Drake Maye
The slide for Maye wasn’t far, he lands in ATL as the new QB. This is actually the best case scenario for the Falcons. Within that Rams offense with new OC Zac Robinson and the talent display of Pitts, London and Bijan at his disposable, Drake Maye’s arm talent should unlock new levels. The Falcons aren’t far off, the QB position is what holds them back from playoff contention.
9. CHI Bears – EDGE Dallas Turner, BAMA
Alabama superstar Dallas Turners come in at 9 to Chicago. After drafting Caleb Williams, this would be a start for a home run draft. Dallas is my #1 Edge player on my board and when you pair him with Montez Sweat, this Eberflus defense should wreak havoc for opposing QBs. If he’s developed correctly he could be one of the NFL’s best pass rushers.
10. NY Jets – TE Brock Bowers, UGA
Jets need a lot of help everywhere in my opinion, so enters a weapon for Aaron Rodgers. Brock is a Tight End which doesn’t have that much value compared to other positions when trying to grade him but his talent is undeniable. Can’t wait to see his 40 time because he’s a mismatch for most opponents using speed and route-running. Jets get a weapon they haven’t had in a long time.
11. MIN Vikings – DL Byron Murphy, TEX
The Vikings have had a weakness in the middle of their interior defense for quite sometime, enters Murphy. He can defend the run and contribute in the pass rush. His “weakness” is his lack of length and only being 6’1 but lets ask Aaron Donald about that.
12. DEN Broncos – CB Quinyon Mitchell, TOL
I’m not big on reaching for a QB here like Bo Nix or Michael Penix. Mitchell gives the Broncos two cover corners. He possess the size and speed for the NFL. He dominated the Senior Bowl and proved he’s scheme proof.
13. LV Raiders – T Taliese Fuaga, Oregon St.
A good size tackle out of the Pac 12 who can play Guard as well. The Raiders sure up the line to protect their future starting QB. This could be a high spot but I’m banking on experience and toughness here.
14. NO Saints – T/G JC Latham, BAMA
The O-line for the Saints will be changing, so lets get a game-changer. A player who rarely gives up sacks and pressures who can be a plug-in play starter right away. JC just like Taliese is a preference pick, but here at 14 is a good spot.
15. IND Colts – Terrion Arnonld, BAMA
I like Arnold’s game, he has great ball skills and when you’re facing CJ Stroud & Trevor Lawrence, a top corner is a need. His only flaw is ‘speed’ but I think the IQ is there to keep it at bay.
16. SEA Seahawks – EDGE Jared Verse
Jared Verse was viewed as a high draft pick earlier in the season but 16 is a good spot. Seattle usually drafts BPA (best player available) as they did last year with JSN at WR. Verse gives an edge to new coach Macdonald, with his motor and instincts. Seattle takes a big step in the defense department.
17. JAC Jaguars – IOL Jackson Powers-Johnson, ORE
Versatile to play either Guard or Center gives him the opportunity to start day one. The Jaguars have to implement a strong OL if they want Trevor to take the next step.
18. CIN Bengals – OT Amarius Mims, UGA
Bengals have FA moves to decide on so they’ll have to be careful in the draft. Since its a deep class at Tackle position, Mims fits here. Mims is a massive tackle that gives Burrow more time in the pocket. 36 inch arms plus his quickness, he could be a steal at 18.
19. LA Rams – Edge Laiatu Latu, UCLA
Lets put Latu next to a future Hall of Famer in Aaron Donald. Medical issues could be an issue here but he played exceptionally well this past season and rose up draft boards.
20. PIT Steelers – CB Cooper DeJean, IOWA
Not sure if he fits Steelers identity however, I love his versatility to play anywhere in the secondary. He’s gritty as an outside corner and instinctive as a hybrid safety. Mike Tomlin would love his playmaking ability.
21. MIA Dolphins – OT Troy Fautanu, WASH
He’s athletic but not powerful, i think that speaks to the Miami Dolphins. They are quick, fast and mobile and now Fautanu can be steady cog for them on the OL. He was reliable for a Left Hand QB at Washington for Penix and now he can do the same for Tua.
22. PHI Eagles – CB Kool Aid Mckinstry, BAMA
Another BAMA prospect off the board and this team loves SEC players. With Bradbury on the decline and Slay aging, they have to get younger in the secondary. Viewed as a top pick coming into the season, his strong ability to press using speed and physicality could make him an immediate star for the Eagles.
23. HOU Texans – EDGE Chop Robinson, PSU
This team hopes Latu or Verse would fall to them but I can see Chop landing here. The Penn State standout could be a late first or early 2nd round pick. Biggest issue is his inconsistency but the ceiling is high for him once he puts it all together. Add him to a lineup with the reigning 2023 NFL Defensive Rookie of the year, Will Anderson, and watch out NFL.
24. DAL Cowboys – DL Jer’Zhan Newton, ILL
Trench help is just what the doctor order for the Dallas Cowboys, i prefer they attack the defense side first. Newton out of ILL can be used both on the edge and improve the inside of the line.
25. GB Packers – T Graham Burton, DUKE
Packers already address the weapons for Jordan Love. They’ll address the OL here with Burton. He might move inside here but was a 2 year starter at Duke. He’s very tough minded, he looks like a Packer.
26. TB Buccaneers – CB Nate Wiggins, CLEM
Bucs could use a number one corner for Bowles system. Wiggins is very talented in all aspects. He’s my No. 4 Corner off the board but could be similar to AJ Terrell — he has All Pro written all over him.
27. ARZ Cardinals – OT Jordan Morgan, ARI
For their 2nd pick of the draft the Cardinals take an OL in the 1st. With back to back OL in the 1st round (Parris Johnson) this should provide protection for Kyler Murray. Only allowed 1 sack in 670 snaps that’s a great sack rate for the former Wildcat. Great value pick and he gets to stay in Arizona.
28. BUF Bills – WR Brian Thomas Jr., LSU
Can we finally help Josh Allen? Brian Thomas Jr. could be WR2 but he’s fallen to pick 28. At 6’4 this gives Josh Allen a playmaker down the field as a mismatch. I want the Bills to invest in Josh Allen, this is how its done.
29. DET Lions – CB Ennis Rakestraw, MIZZOU
Missouri’s defense wasnt good just because, Rakestraw played a big part. He could rise during the draft process. His biggest strength include physicality – he can help Dan Campbell bite off knee caps.
30. BAL Ravens – OT Tyler Guyton, OKLA
Athletic Monster standing at 6’7 330 lbs the Ravens would be the perfect team for someone who has some red flags. He’ll be a later riser on people’s board.
31. SF 49ers – WR Xavier Leggette, SCAR
I’m biased here, I have another South Carolina WR headed to a Kyle Shanahan system. Brandon Ayiuk will be hitting free agency and no way 49ers bring him back. He’s a mismatch at 6’3 with good speed – I wonder if this is his range or could he move up.
32. KC Chiefs – WR Keon Coleman, FSU
The SB Champs knows WR is the biggest issue. Keon Coleman gives Mahomes a big target (6’4 215 lb) good ball skills which would be perfect with the best QB in the league. Not sure if Rashee Rice could be a No. 1 WR for a team but Coleman has the making to be.
