PROPHET PREVIEW

Minnesota Vikings (0-1) vs. Philadelphia Eagles (1-0)

MIN v PHI (-5.5) – O/U 48.5

Introduction to Week 2

The Vikings head into Lincoln Financial Field with a 0-1 record after losing to the Tampa Bay Bucs at home. Kirk Cousins filled the stat sheet but 3 turnovers, 2 being in the Red-zone kept points off the board leading to the upset. The Eagles (1-0) went up quickly vs. the Patriots up 16-0, by a Pick-6 from All Pro CB Darius Slay. Although Jalen Hurts wasn’t amazing in this game, he didn’t need to be. They won 25-20 on the road.

Why The Vikings Will Win

For the Vikings to win on the road, they sill have to play clean football. They did a great job in the 1st half Vs the Bucs but eventually hurt themselves. This team went into Philly last year and struggled mightily vs Eagles front 7. They will have to keep Kirk Cousins upright if they would like a chance to win. Justin Jefferson had less than 50 yards, Kevin O’Connell must involve him in the plan early and often. This will allow other weapons like newly-paid TE T.J. Hockenson and 1st rd pick Jordan Addison to create offense off JJ’a attention. The bright spot was the defense. Allowing Bucs only 3 yards play is fairly impressive from this team last year. For a big win like this, Brian Flores must slow down Jalen Hurts and this high octane offense.

Why The Eagles Will Win

The Eagles will win in the trenches. The defensive line should be able to limit the running ability from the Vikings. The goal is to make them one dimensional and predictable. Kirk Cousins threw 44 passes in a close game in week 1. Eagles need to keep Minnesota playing behind in order to keep them one dimensional. On the offensive side of the ball, Jalen Hurts has the ability to make anything happen. As one of the best QBs, he’ll have the opportunity to use DeVonta Smith-AJ Brown duo to his discretion. To win, he will have to show his quick decision making from the Vikings multiple blitz packages.

Prophet Pick

Keven’s: I’m taking my Vikings to cover the +5.5. They struggled last year but they know what’s at stake early in the season. 0-2 start doesn’t bode well for any team. If the Vikings upset, I would lean the under 49.5.

Rashad’s: I’m taking the over here. Both offenses have good weapons & No elite defensive mind like Belichick on the opposing side.
